Our Story
We’re Keith & Anna Sims. We started Sims Grown, because we believe in the joy that growing brings.
Our yard farm, less than 1/4 acre, is located in MidTown in Columbus, GA. We use the space for growing and selling plants and for feeding our family of four.
Hi there! We’re Keith and Anna Sims.
A little about us… Keith, with an undergraduate degree in Biology, was on track for Physician Assistant school. Anna, a communications major, had been working in public relations and the nonprofit sector for years when we started noticing a bigger problem: access to local, organic food. Where does most of our food really come from? How does it impact our community, our families, and the environment? And most importantly—how can we grow more of it ourselves?
Keith decided to follow his passion for organic gardening and sustainable living. He spent a year learning from the best organic farm in our area, Jenny Jack Farm in Pine Mountain. After that experience, he returned to MercyMed, where he built a farm for the clinic to grow fresh, organic produce for clinic patients and the community. He’s been growing and learning there ever since.
Anna moved into freelance and entrepreneurial communications work, and together our passions merged into Sims Grown—a space for everyday families, backyard gardeners, and curious growers to learn, share, and grow together.
Neither one of us grew up on a farm, and we don’t consider ourselves experts. We’re just everyday gardeners learning as we go. But the more we grow, the more we realize how much there is to learn—and how rewarding it is to share that journey.
From our backyard garden to helping the community, we offer garden consultations, growing guides, and plants, all designed to make organic gardening approachable, fun, and doable for beginners and families.
If you’ve landed here, chances are you care about your family, your community, and reconnecting with healthy, local food. You want to know how to grow your own vegetables, fruits, and herbs, even in small spaces.
Thanks for saying yes to growing with us. We’re excited to learn, grow, and share with you.
